The different types of damp
- Rising Damp: Typically travels upward from the ground, usually a sign of a damaged DPC or outside ground levels that are too high around the property

In situations where this is not achievable, the installation of land drainage, french gravel drains, and wrapping the lower section of the exterior wall is recommended, a process known as tanking.
Treatment will generally involve fitting the DPC, hacking off and re plastering with salt retardant render, and resolving the underlying source of the damp.
